Exeter-Hampton Cooperative is owned by the community members who live here -- we are a resident-owned community (ROC). That means together, we own the land beneath our homes, control the rent and make the rules. In 1998, we formed our cooperative, and, in 1999, the cooperative purchased the land and infrastructure, including the roads and water lines. A democratically elected board of directors oversees the day-to-day business of running Exeter-Hampton Cooperative. Every member household in the community has a say in who sits on that board, how we spend our money, the annual budget, and whether we make changes to the rent.
